For this loft refurbishment, the client’s brief was clear: preserve the Victorian character of the home while introducing a bright, contemporary new level. Our response centred around a suspended, perforated gallery that appears to float above the original top floor – connected by a sculptural spiral stair. Inspired by the Golden Section, the stairs’ form balances classical proportion with a modern industrial sensibility. The result is a space that feels both airy and grounded, where sunlight, structure, and geometry come together in quiet harmony.
